We are a strong and active community, a place
you may wish to look into if you are considering
rural life, a slower pace, reduced living costs,
and a place to really participate in community
life.
We
are always happy to have new families and businesses
move in, and
would welcome your inquiries
about available lots, farms, housing or business
opportunities in the Macrorie & District
area. If we can help you decide on Macrorie,
let us.
We
are the “last chance stop” on
the west side of Saskatchewan’s Great Lake,
Lake Diefenbaker. Coldwell Recreation Park is
along the south end of the South Saskatchewan
River less than 10 minutes from Macrorie. This
park is a great place to spend a quiet afternoon,
or a weekend of great camping. You’ll never
want to return home after you have spent some
quiet time at Coldwell. Danielson Provincial
Park is approximately 15 minutes east of Macrorie.
This a great place to take the family for the
summer. Excellent fishing, sandy beaches, shady
trees, and a marina for your boat makes it a
great “home away from home”. 30 minutes
down the road from Danielson you will come upon
Douglas Provincial Park. This natural environment
park is a prairie oasis featuring access to kilometres
of natural sand beaches, massive inland sand
dunes, native prairie, and secluded campsites
hidden in a lush aspen forest.
Located
10 minutes South of Macrorie, you will find
Gardiner Dam, Canada’s Largest earth-filled
dam. Summer tours are available at the dam, along
with an Interpretive Centre, Gift Shop, the Top
of the Dam Café, the Coteau Creek Power
Station, sandy beaches, and wonderful scenery.
We
have lots of space, a low cost of living and
we are situated just
110km south of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan’s largest city.
We
have an excellent Food and Agro department
right along the highway.
The Macrorie District
Co-op serves the needs of the people in the area,
with groceries, gas, fishing supplies, camping
supplies, and a whole lot more! Services provided
by the Village of Macrorie include, garbage pick-up,
excellent water & sewer systems, snow removal,
recycling and much more!
Macrorie has many of the essential services
you would expect to find in either a tourist
destination or a place to call home. We have
a voluntary fire department; we are 15 minutes
away from an RCMP detachment, hospital, ambulance,
2 high schools and one elementary school, dentist,
optometrist, etc.
